Dolls: From the Cute to the Grotesque
A lecture by Dr. Susan Napier

Thursday, October 02, 06:30 PM EDT

Dr. Napier, professor of Japanese literature at Tufts University and a leading academic on Japanese Popular Culture will lead us on an exploration of the culture of dolls. We’ll learn about an elaborate world of make-believe, which reaches back centuries. Dr. Napier will discuss the current state of 'dolls' as well as looking to a future world where “human” relationships can encompass everything from cyborgs to model figures. What does the love of dolls say about Japan, or about 21st century society in general?

RSVP Required.
